From the entry of the polyrhythmic percussion, it’s already obvious that ‘Knockin'’ will be a tune full of funky syncopation and addictive beats. Shunus has knocked it out of the metaphorical park with his latest Peripheral EP, which maintains his trademark style while exploring the bridges between genres, introduces his own voice (on this track, for example) and wraps it up with consistently perfect production. ‘Knockin'’ is led by powerful melodies and effects, but it’s the subtle percussive elements and pads that add detail deeper in the mix that really make the track special. -Dan Peeke
